Once again the season is stealing the spotlight from me. Can’t say I’m mad about it though. I mean seriously, how gorgeous is this backdrop? Moving on to less gorgeous  – but still pretty cute – things: I wore this outfit to brunch on Saturday, and I re-styled my polka dot jeans from my last look. So to sum up: Fall. French toast. Polka dots. Life is good.

This is an outfit I wore over the weekend to have lunch with my old freshman roommate, who lives in California, so I haven’t seen her in YEARS. Part of the fun – or horror – of going to college is getting thrown into a tiny room with a random person whom you may or may not like. Your freshman roomie is probably someone you’ll never forget, either because he/she was your very first friend in college, or because he/she was the freak of all freaks. Lucky for me, mine was the former!

We spent Sunday reminiscing about the good ol’ days (the parts we remember, anyway) and catching up on how our lives have changed since then. I think we’ve matured, but only slightly. Here’s a picture of us in our dorm room in 2003, and us today! We’re kind of like wine…age has only done good things for us.

20120902-210753.jpgAlright! Here’s the part where you can (a) tell me your thoughts on my outfit, (b) tell me a roommate-from-hell story, or (c) both.

I wore this Saturday night for my friend Chrissy’s bachelorette party. It was fun without being TOO out of control! There was limo-riding, bar-hopping and tipsy-dancing involved. I know this get-up isn’t exactly your typical “night-out-with-the-girls” look, but if I dressed typically, what would be the point of having a style blog?

I felt totally awesome in this skirt, even if I was one of the only girls at these bars with a hem line more than 2 inches below my lady bits. It’s impossible not to make an entrance in this skirt because the fabric billows around me and every once in a while you get a glimpse of some thigh. See, girls? It’s true what they say about leaving something to the imagination. Don’t show all your goods at once.

So the next time you’re deciding what to wear to go out on a Saturday night, think about your dear friend Sarah. Put down the strapless LBD that some might mistake for a lost legwarmer, and pick up a beautiful and flattering maxi skirt (and throw in some polka dots for good measure).

Skirt available at Zara

I’m writing this post as I wait in line for the bathroom before I walk in the Indy Pride Parade with IYG (isn’t technology great?). My outfit today doesn’t exactly fit with the theme of this blog, but here’s something I wore a couple evenings ago.

I wore this to go see the dance recital of a studio where I used to teach (shout out to Terre Haute Academy of Dance! Hansel and Gretel was awesome). I decided to put my hair in a bun of solidarity.

Let me let you in on a little secret about this dress: You will never see me wear it without a cardigan buttoned in the middle…because there’s an orange stain a couple inches above my belly button. It’s very small, but on a light-colored garment, it’s quite obvious. So there you have it. Sarah wears stained clothes. Man, what a mess. She really needs to get it together.

I wore this to go to Dave and Busters. I had never been…turns out I was overdressed. Story of my life. I had a totally different image of this place in my head. I thought it was like a grown up version of an arcade. I don’t like arcades. This was an arcade. But on the plus side: they had good fries, I was with good friends, and I looked pretty classy playing skee ball in heels (at least in my head I did).

Memorial Day

This whole First Post Ever thing is rather intimidating! But we’ll just jump right in. I wore this yesterday to go to a cookout with friends. Since it was 90 degrees in the shade, there weren’t many options besides shorts and a t-shirt. Boring, right? Agreed. But these shorts have a cute little bow detail, and the wedges make me feel a little fancy (and tall, which is nice). Plus, have I mentioned how I love hats?! Of course not; this is my first post. Well let me go on record now as loving hats. The problem is that I look weird in most hats, so when I find one that looks good, I’m all over it. Then the next challenge is finding a hat occasion. There aren’t many. So thank you, Memorial Day!
