I got this jacket in January as part of a suit and I wore it for the first day of my new internship (pictured below, far right). But as long as I’m only dressing business casual once a week, I might as well make my new “workwear” double as “studentwear.” Turns out Lucky Magazine wasn’t lying to us…you really can break up your suits and wear the blazer with jeans. But when Vogue said you could wear a feather headdress and a $2000 mesh top with no bra, it was definitely lying. (Anna Wintour, if you’re reading this, I’m totally kidding. You’re a genius. Please give me a job. Love, Sarah.)

The End of an Era?

tweed1 tweed2 tweed3 tweed4 tweed5 tweed6

I sincerely hope this is the last time you will see me wearing tights for a long time. It finally started to warm up here this weekend and I wore skirts with bare legs. It was glorious. I will miss not having to shave though.

I don’t mean to be knocking on tights. I really do like them. This outfit for example – it wouldn’t look the same without tights. I like the black, green, black, green colorblocking I have going on here. And with bare legs, this skirt might be a little too short for the office. For some reason I feel like when you’re wearing tights, you’re not actually showing leg, just the illusion of leg. Is that just me? Probably. I tend to overthink things.

Plus, there’s something about tweed that reads fall/winter. I guess because it’s thick and sturdy. I would look kind of top-heavy (or top-warm) with two tweeds and nothing on the bottom.

See how I’m convincing myself that tights are great in case I have to wear them again this week? Yeah.

Nothin’ Like Experimentin’

sweatshirtskirt1 sweatshirtskirt2 sweatshirtskirt3 sweatshirtskirt4 sweatshirtskirt5

I never thought I would be a denim vest kind of person. A denim vest is just one pair of cutoff shorts and a Natty Light away from a Nascar fan. With no due respect, Nascar-unchic is not a look to which I aspire.

But for whatever reason, I decided I wanted to try out a denim vest. When I’m experimenting, I like to go cheap so I don’t waste too much money if I end up abandoning the idea. I got this vest from good ol’ Target for $27.99. If anyone heads to the Big T to scope it out, be warned that this baby runs really small. I got a medium, and I usually wear an XS. I just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone tries on their usual size and thinks they’ve gained 20 pounds overnight. You haven’t. Probably.

I’m happy with my great denim vest experiment so far. I took this outfit about as un-hick as I could and I think it worked. You’ll be seeing more of my little blue friend in the future I suspect.

Snow White

What better day to wear winter white than the day after a winter storm that dropped a good inch of ice. Needless to say, these heels were in my tote bag when I spent 20 minutes chiseling my car out from under all that shit. For that part I wore my ice skates. Or maybe just some boots. You’ll never know. OK, it was boots.

The remixed item today is the turtleneck. See how I wore it yesterday.

Love at First Sight

tweed1 tweed2 tweed3 tweed5 tweed6

So the other day I went in to DSW looking for silver sandals (I need them to be a bridesmaid this summer, plus I have another formal event coming up). I didn’t find any I liked, but I did find these drop dead gorgeous amazing scalloped wedges. I know it wasn’t the responsible thing to do, but I got them, and I’m never looking back.

It just goes to show you might think you know what you’re looking for in the ideal shoe, but sometimes you find a shoe that’s a little unexpected yet perfect for you. Maybe the shoe’s a little out there with its kooky curved wedge, and maybe not everyone will understand. But if you and the shoe are happy together, that’s what counts. In time, hopefully the rest of the world will come to recognize that while they might not want to walk in your shoes, it won’t affect the relationship they have with their favorite shoes to let you wear your shoes. Everyone should be able to marry…ahem, I mean wear whatever shoes they want, don’t you think? For example, some people might wonder: Sarah, why did you choose those shoes? There are way more comfortable shoes out there. But then I might wonder: Why did you choose those Crocs when every single other shoe in the world is more attractive? Maybe neither choice makes sense, but that’s because neither one is a choice. Nobody really chooses to be uncomfortable or to look unfashionable; it’s just what happens when you wear the shoes you truly love.

This may or may not be a metaphor or pretext for another social issue. But I also just really love these shoes. The end.

Check back later today for the second weekly round-up of my Take One, Pass it On remix challenge, including new blogger links.

Here we go…the excitement is building. It’s Day 2 of the Take One, Pass it On outfit remix, so I’m repeating this polka dot tank from Friday in a new outfit, and tomorrow you’ll see this cardigan again. If this isn’t the most exciting thing that’s happened to you this week, well, then you probably have at least a moderately interesting life.

If you’re trying to figure out what’s going on, read about the remix challenge here. I know a few other people have jumped on the bandwagon…woot woot!

Hope you peeps have had a good weekend.

20121205-155201.jpgThis was an outfit I wore last weekend to go out for some food and run some errands. Why am I showing you an outfit from 5 days ago? Because I’ve spent most of the week so far at home studying in my PJs. In fact, when was the last time I changed my PJs? I hope it was within the last 36 hours but I don’t remember. My life is so fabulous I can hardly stand it. You guys wish you were me, don’t you?
