Sister Act

The title of this post isn’t a pun…this is actually the outfit I wore to go see Sister Act the musical. I’m not in the habit of throwing around great reviews if I don’t mean it, but this show was seriously hilarious and entertaining. I would tell you about the bad parts, but there were nun. There was a big mass of people in the audience, and we were all cracking up. I was praying it would go on even longer. I mean Jesus Christ was that a great show!

Like I said…no puns here.

In other news, it’s almost the end of the month, which means the end of the remix challenge! The repeat item of the day is this belt. Check out how I wore it yesterday. Tomorrow I’ll post outfit #28 and a Week 4 roundup. If you’ve joined the remix in the past week, be sure to let me know so I can include your link.

Over-Under

When fall comes, I get so excited about layering again. I mean I love clothes, so the more I get to wear, the better. But after a few months, the excitement wears off. It’s kind of like marriage (juuuuust kidding, honey).

So to switch things up, I try to make some more creative and unexpected layering choices. One of my favorites is wearing a cardigan as a shirt (fully buttoned) with a layer over it like a vest or jacket. Did I just rock your whole world? If I did, you probably need a hobby, because a button-up cardigan is really not that exciting. Except when it’s zebra print.

Oh, and the repeat item is this vest! I have the Take One, Pass it On challenge to thank for inspiring my layering adventures today. And since I invented the Take One challenge, I guess I can thank myself. Good job, me.

It might seem nerdy that my belt and shoes match, but it was an accident so I feel like that makes it OK. See watch:

Nerdy: “Look you guys! [pushes glasses up nose] I matched my belt and my shoes!”

Not nerdy: “Oh, do my belt and my shoes match? I hadn’t noticed. I just threw this on.”

See how that works?

Anyway, I’m happy to report that the first week of my Take One, Pass it On outfit remix challenge is on the books! Tomorrow I’ll post a recap of the first 7 outfits, along with links to other blogs who have already started the challenge. I already know about a few of you, but if you want your links included, be sure to link back to me somehow – You can post a link to this post on your blog (which should give me a trackback notification), on your Facebook page (tagging Sarah’s Real Life), or on Twitter (with the hashtag #TakeOne).

For the Next 10 Minutes…

I went to see a community theater performance of The Last Five Years over the weekend. The show was great, and I was especially impressed with the guitar…Probably because I’m married to the guitar player, but also because of the mad strumming skills.

I figured the theater on Saturday night is a good occasion for (faux) fur, but a community theater is a good occasion for jeans, too. Combine the two and you’re good to go. All my jeans were dirty…so I wore these jeans that I hardly ever wear because the rise is so low it makes me feel uncomfortable and nervous that I’m going to flash the back and front of my underwear. You wanna know how little I wear these jeans? When I put them on, I realized there was a movie ticket in the pocket from the last time I wore them. It was dated August 26.

Of 2011.

Don’t worry, I’m doing laundry as we speak.

Sweata and Leatha Weatha

Remember that time I wore leather pants to go to Noodles & Co. on a Monday? I do. And I stand by my decision. I’m pretty excited about these (faux) leather leggings because I think they’re actually going to be pretty versatile. Not office appropriate, obviously, but noodle-eating appropriate? I’m voting yes. Then again, pretty much anything is appropriate for eating noodles because noodles are just awesome no matter what you’re wearing.

Leather pants have a way of making you want to go over-the-top biker babe, so I talked myself down and settled on a baggy sweater and demure shoes because, after all, I only ride my Harley on the weekends.

I finally jumped on the Sole Society bandwagon with these adorable “Celine” shoes. I love how from the front they’re like “Oh, hey, I’m just a simple pair of shoes…no big deal…” and then from the back they’re like “BAM! I have a chartreuse heel! You didn’t see that coming, did you?” (A lot of my clothes talk to me. I’m like a wardrobe whisperer.)

In case you haven’t heard of or ordered from Sole Society, it’s one of those sites where you have to be a “member,” but you don’t have to give a credit card number (until you purchase, obviously), and you can opt out of e-mails so they don’t bug you. I’m happy with my first purchase, so I’m sure I’ll make more. If you’re interested in seeing the selection, sign up here.

Hope everyone’s enjoying the end of 2012! Take THAT, Mayans!
