I don’t remember exactly what I had planned to wear on Tuesday; all I know is it did not work out. I was crunched for time and didn’t know how/where to start over, and then I had a miraculous pre-coffee stroke of genius: Pin to Real Life is making a comeback! (If you’re just joining us, you can get the low down on Pin to Real Life here.)

I pinned this outfit from Merrick a few days ago because I loved the mix of patterns and textures, plus it was so simple and comfortable. Her printed pants are way cuter than mine, but I did what I could. And I love her addition of yellow flats, but (shockingly) I don’t have any! So I added my yellow with a necklace instead.

Many thanks to Merrick and Pinterest for saving me from going to school in my PJs!

Here it is, folks: the last in a week’s worth of outfits inspired by my Pinterest favorites.

I pinned this outfit from Kendi way back in January (she lives in Texas, where apparently you can bare your legs in the winter without dying immediately – blows my mind). If you read her post – which you should because she’s almost as hilarious as I am – you’ll find out that Kendi actually copied her outfit from a Madewell mannequin. My friend Alanis thinks it’s pretty ironic that now I’m copying her copied outfit. Don’t you think?

Also – and this is super important – if you were still planning on doing a #PinToRealLife outfit soon, I still want to see it! Over the weekend I’ll do a roundup and include links to everyone who played along. So be sure link back to me in your post, and then send me your link – email me or tag me on Twitter or something.

Earlier this spring when I was on the fence about getting a floral blazer, I’m pretty sure it was this pin that put me over the edge. “Oh, it looks good with a striped dress? I’m in.” I had a different color scheme to work with than my inspirer Julia (of Gal Meets Glam) did, but I still love how this came out. Since my dress and blazer were  warm colors instead of cool, I went for a tan belt and shoes instead of black. That’s the story I’m going with anyway. But I also just don’t have a thin black belt.

Happy Friday, everyone. Did you all have a good 4th yesterday? Full of eating hotdogs and lighting things on fire? Hopefully those things were just fireworks.

Well, here’s what I wore for yesterday’s festivities. I’m not really into overly patriotic dressing, but I did make at least a small attempt to dress the part for Fourth of July. I pinned this outfit from Kim back in May because I loved the mix of stripes, denim, and a pleated skirt. My only pleated skirt is yellow, but I added red back in with shoes and lipstick. I also added a flower in my hair…because there are a lot of flowers…in…America. So there ya go: red, white, and blue. And yellow and flowers.

I have to give this particular outfit pin some extra props for making me wear my vest buttoned at the top and with a necklace under the collar. At first I was skeptical. I figured the bottom of the vest would flare out too much and make my hips look oddly wide. It happens to the best of us, right ladies? But I was pleasantly surprised that it looked great!

And you know what else is looking great? The newest blogger trying the Pin to Real Life challenge, Talk and Tea Leaves.

This second installment of Pin to Real Life was inspired by Beth of s e e r s u c k e r + s a d d l e s. You might not see the resemblance at first glance because I switched up the color scheme, but that’s the fun of blogger-inspired outfits, right? See something you like and make it your own.

What I liked about Beth’s outfit that made me pin it was the print mixing (obviously – my favorite!) and how she tied it together with a cardigan and matching flats. I swapped out pink for minty green and added my own statement necklace and cuff bracelet. I decided not to chop off all my hair though. Maybe next time.

Two other ladies  joined in on the Pin to Real Life challenge yesterday! Check them out at Loop Looks and  Adventures of a Shoestring Fashionista. If they can do it, so can you!
