I got this leather pencil skirt a couple months ago during one of Ann Taylor’s many extra zillion percent off super flash self-destruct-in-5-minutes sales. (They’re probably having one right now.) I finally had a chance to wear it this week. Once again, this semester’s internship gives me an excuse to wear some things that are too dressy for class.
I was inspired by a post on M Loves M this week to wear leopard print with this skirt. I was worried it might be – in Tim Gunn’s words – “a lotta look,” but I think this cream blazer kinda tempers it. For a conservative office environment, I try to stick with one statement at a time and then disguise it. Pretty tricksy, huh?
Have a good weekend, everyone!

Where you’ve seen the top half before…It’s the Real Life Remix…

The Take One, Pass it On remix gets a little challenging for me going from Friday to Saturday. On Fridays I spend the day at my internship, and on Saturday, well…it’s Saturday. I decided to repeat these kitten heels because they’re perfectly comfy for lunch and shopping. You know what they didn’t help with though? Keeping me warm in the bitterly cold wind. Seriously…it was so cold I didn’t even want to spend 4 minutes outside taking outfit photos. So here we are in my living room, in front of a bookshelf that quite possibly has embarrassing contents. So just don’t look too closely. But the Twilight books are NOT mine. Seriously.

Now that I have bangs…and my J. Crew flats…and I’m on the way to being a lawyer…I’m pretty much the First Lady, right? I mean all I have to do is grown 6 inches and be black. We’re practically twins.
P.S. Did you spot my repeat item of the day? It’s a little more subtle this time. See yesterday’s post to figure it out!

Yes, I am well aware that pictures look prettier when you take them outside in natural light. But guess what? The wind chills yesterday were below zero and that’s just not happening. I bundled up the best I could so I could stay alive long enough until the heat in my car kicked in.
Let me give you a rundown of just how many articles of clothing I was wearing:
- Fleece-lined leggings
- Fuzzy socks
- Belt & bracelets (a girl’s gotta accessorize)
I kind of felt like Joey in that episode of Friends when he puts on all of Chandler’s clothes. You know what I’m talking about.
Coat: Kenneth Cole Reaction (similar)
Hat: handmade gift (similar)
Boots: Matisse (I love these that are on sale!)

Everyone, I have an announcement: I AM HALFWAY DONE WITH LAW SCHOOL.
That’s right, 3 out of 6 semesters are done! I am feeling pretty good right now. I feel even better thinking about the wonderful month-long break that is now officially underway. I was already in the Christmas spirit (I found gift shopping a good way to clear my head in between studying for exams), but now I am extra jolly!
After turning in my last take-home exam, I freshened myself up (in a Beatles t-shirt I stole from Kristin’s closet – thanks, love) for dinner, drinks, and a movie.
In case you’re wondering, we saw Silver Linings Playbook. Some parts were kind of slow moving, but Bradley Cooper was seriously amazing. Who would have guessed? Overall it was very good. At my theater, an elderly couple walked out less than halfway through. And any movie that offends old people is good in my book.
P.S. This outfit was inspired by this photo I pinned awhile back.
Coat: Victoria’s Secret, old (similar – on sale)

It’s that awesome time of year when it’s summery and fallish at the same time, so you can wear shorts with a sweater or a t-shirt with boots and still feel pretty comfortable. I love the idea of a chambray layered under a cardigan, but since I just got on the chambray bandwagon this summer, I haven’t had the opportunity. Enter last Saturday: high of 72. Glorious. Perfect weather for an oxymoronic outfit.
Chambray: Madewell / Cardigan: H&M / Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs / Necklace & Sunnies: Charming Charlie
P.S. On a side note, I noticed that I’ve had several people click on my Bloglovin’ button in the past couple days, but Bloglovin’ doesn’t seem to think I’ve added new followers. That shit cray. If you tried to follow me recently but haven’t seen me on your Bloglovin’ feed, let me give you another opportunity right now: click here and then click the blue “Follow” button. Yay.
Last night I attended Indianapolis’ Fashion’s Night Out! I remember a few years ago when NYC started FNO, and I thought it was pretty much the coolest idea ever. I wanted to go SO badly. Well, I have a feeling FNO in New York is slightly more exciting than FNO in Indy, but the Circle City gave me my FNO fix for now. I got to see some local fashion designers, met a few other bloggers, and did a little shopping. It was cool to look around a room and see other fabulous looking people! All in all, it was more fun that I normally have on a Thursday night, and by the end I was exhausted! Fashion really takes it outta you.
So without further ado, here’s what I wore and what I bought!
My purchases: Green and bordeaux jeans from The Limited (buy one, get one free!), cardigan from H&M (can you tell I’m looking forward to fall?)
Since tonight is Fashion’s Night Out, I figured what better time to show you my official fall shopping list? And I swear: this is not a cute little collage I just made up to fill space on my blog; these are all items that are actually on my list of things I want to find this season (you can ask my iPhone, who was storing my list up until now).
I will be going to a FNO Indianapolis event at Circle Centre Mall, and perhaps I’ll pick up one or two of these items! I promise to report back.
To everyone else attending FNO wherever you live – and to everyone in smaller towns making your own pretend FNO – have fun! And may the shopping be ever in your favor.
