Hey everyone, and welcome to fall! I guess the Equinox just happened? Not Equinox like the gym, but Equinox like that thing where the Earth goes around the sun and then it’s another season? I don’t know. I’m not an expert on astronomy or meteorology, but I am an expert on cute sweatshirts. I bought this particular cute sweatshirt earlier in the month, but I saved it until it got little more…you know…autumnal.

P.S. If you’re a fellow blogger, let’s start off the new season with a “Pin Party.” Pin a photo from this post (the first one is my personal favorite), then leave me a comment with a link to your blog, and I’ll pin one of your photos, too. I’ve never understood the whole “follow for follow” thing on social media, but “share for share” seems much more fun and productive. Let’s give it a try.
Well, here we are. Pin to Real Life week is over and I’m slightly concerned that I forgot how to come up with my own outfits. So far so good, but only time will tell.
One thing I discovered last week when I was going through all my pins looking for outfits to recreate is that I have a thing for statement necklaces. A good chunk of the photos I saved were of little tiny girls with big ol’ baubles around their necks. I wanted to be one of those weighed down girls. But this girl only had reasonably sized necklaces in her arsenal. Lame.
As luck would have it, I got a generous offer from Max & Chloe to send me something from their shop. Wouldn’t you know it, they have a crap ton of statement necklaces! I picked out the one you see above, but I had a hard time deciding. Below are some of the other Max & Chloe neck candies (is that a term? like arm candy?) that I liked. Have at it, ladies.

*Necklace gifted to me by Max & Chloe, but I picked it out and all opinions are my own.
Don’t be fooled: the fact that Tommy Hilfiger made this sweater does not mean the “H” signifies Tommy’s surname. Nope, it stands for Harrell, which is why I wear it with pride.
You see, I’ve never understood the interest in sporting brand name merch for the sake of wearing the name. Don’t get me wrong…I’m certain Louis Vuitton makes excellent quality bags. But if I had the money to buy an LV bag, it certainly wouldn’t be the monogram bag. Unless your name is Lilac Von Trapp, I don’t know why you’d want to have a bunch of LV’s on your arm all the time. (P.S. Lilac Von Trapp is an awesome name…I might name my child Lilac Von Trapp. And by child, I mean my next cat. And you better believe the feline Lilac Von Trapp will have an LV carrier case. Biggest diva at the vet’s office. But I digress…)
The point is: How lucky was I to find a whole table full of sweaters made just for me? Harrell pride.

You guys, I can’t believe I’ve been running this blog for almost five months and I’ve never mentioned this hugely important part of my life: Clueless is my favorite movie. Of all time. I know every line, every song on the soundtrack, and every outfit.
I remember seeing it in the theater with my mom when I was 10. At the time I was too young to get half the jokes, but I still loved it. I had it on VHS (those rectangular things from the 90s that you had to rewind), had the soundtrack, then got the DVD, then got a DVD again when the 10th anniversary edition came out (there were special features).
I didn’t think there was anything else I could get until a fateful day last fall when I happened to be wandering through Forever 21 and spotted this sweatshirt. I was so excited! But wait, the story’s not over.
After I swiped my credit card, at the exact moment when the cashier handed me the yellow bag containing my newfound treasure, I kid you not…David Bowie’s “Fashion” came blasting through the store’s speakers! That’s the song that plays in the first scene of the movie!!! I swear on the grave of Brittany Murphy I am not making this up. It was a magical moment.
So when I got all my winter clothes out of storage last weekend, this sweatshirt was one of the first things I wanted to wear. As if I would wear anything else, right? I would have been totally buggin’ if I couldn’t wear it. OK, that’s enough of that. Just watch the movie.
I figure I know some other Clueless fans out there, so I’m hoping you all enjoy this as much as I do. Tell me your favorite part of the movie in the comments!

Stop acting like you’re surprised. You know I can only go so long without mixing more prints. Now that my vacation week is over, it’s back to Indiana and back to fall layering (hey, I’ve gotta look on the bright side). I wore this gingham shirt last week in Florida (see here), but now it’s taken on a whole new character! It’s perfect how it appears to be peeking out from under these polka dots (read that sentence aloud and raise your hand if you love alliteration).
Just a heads up: I have a feeling this recipe of button-up under a cute sweatshirt or sweater will make many appearances this fall and winter. So you better like it. Otherwise get out now…while you still can.

While we’re in Florida this week, we’re staying with Kristin’s grandparents in The Villages, the biggest retirement community in the universe. Since retired people have all the time in the world to do whatever they want, they are very into low-impact sports. Yesterday we played pickle ball. It’s kind of like tennis but with a smaller court and wiffle balls. I am utterly inept at anything that could remotely be considered a sport, but I gave it a try. I’m told I only did it for 20 minute, but it felt like 2 hours. I did hit it over the net a couple times, although I prefer a more avant-garde approach where I alternate (1) hitting the ball sideways into the benches and (2) running away.
Anyway, once I finished “playing,” I could put my cute shoes back on. Here’s some more outfit photos…Look forward to photos tomorrow from my first trip to Disney World!

Since tonight is Fashion’s Night Out, I figured what better time to show you my official fall shopping list? And I swear: this is not a cute little collage I just made up to fill space on my blog; these are all items that are actually on my list of things I want to find this season (you can ask my iPhone, who was storing my list up until now).
I will be going to a FNO Indianapolis event at Circle Centre Mall, and perhaps I’ll pick up one or two of these items! I promise to report back.
To everyone else attending FNO wherever you live – and to everyone in smaller towns making your own pretend FNO – have fun! And may the shopping be ever in your favor.
