Do you know what time it is? FRIDAY TIME. If you’re happy it’s Friday, put your virtual hands in the air. Now wave them around like you virtually don’t care.

This outfit rounds out Week 3 of the Take One, Pass it On remix challenge. Off the top of my head I don’t know that any new bloggers have joined in the last week, so if you have, be sure to let me know soon! I’ll put up the Week 3 Roundup on Sunday. All of you that have been with me since the beginning – you are awesome. If you haven’t joined in yet…well, what the heck are you waiting for? There’s one week left, and it’s Thanksgiving week. You’re probably going to want to wear your stretchiest pants a couple days in a row anyway. Don’t give me that look. You know it’s true.

Every girl needs a bag that looks like a caterpillar, right? I’m sure I’ve heard that somewhere. Thank goodness I found one. OK, so it’s not exactly a staple, but it’s pretty fun, isn’t it? And it really does remind me of an American Dagger Moth Caterpillar. Don’t be too impressed. I Googled “fuzzy caterpillar” and looked at pictures until I found what I was picturing in my head. Most of what I know about caterpillars I learned from Alice and Wonderland. And from this bag.

Side note: In case you missed it, on Thursday I made an important announcement about an upcoming challenge/linkup. If you’re a fellow outfit blogger looking for something special to do with your posts next month, please consider joining in! Your blog link will be posted right here on SRL for tens of people to see.

A more accurate name for this post would be “WEAR ALL OF THE FALL COLORS!!!!” Navy blue? Check. Olive green…mustard…and burgundy? Checkity check check. The nice thing about fall colors is that they’re darker and (mostly) more subdued so you can wear a mix of them together. Spring/summer colors don’t always work that way. Hot pink, mint green, neon yellow, and powder blue in one outfit? Generally not appropriate unless you’re a piñata. So three cheers for seasons that let me wear a bunch of colors together without looking like an insane person!

Outfits: The Only Things I Can Cook

You know how you can take a recipe and add different creative ingredients to make a whole new dish? (Can you? I don’t really know. My idea of a recipe is the instructions on the back of a mac ‘n’ cheese box. Let’s just say you can.)

Well, I took the ingredients for a preppy outfit (2 cups argyle, 3 cups cardigan, 2 Keds) and threw in a bunch of sassy spices to make it more “me” (10 oz. curly hair, 2 tablespoons retro shades, and a healthy splash of beads).

And there you have it: Argyle & Sass (which would make a really great band name if only I didn’t know as little about playing an instrument as I do about cooking).

Insert Sassy Title Here

20120918-224432.jpgWith such a sassy outfit, I should have a sassy title for this blog post, right? Well, maybe I’m just tired, but I can’t think of anything that doesn’t have “meow” in the title. We all know I’m a cat lover, but that is too cheesy even for me.

So how about instead we skip the title, and just talk about how glad I am that I finally have a leopard (or cheetah…I’m not a zoologist) cardigan in my closet? I don’t know how survived so long without one.

Or we could talk about how much I love mint green and how I fully plan on wearing it forever, even if just in accessories.

See, so much to talk about! You’ve totally forgotten about the fact that I don’t have a catchy title, right? Good. That’s just purrfect. <–Had to do it.

CHEESE!!!

It’s that awesome time of year when it’s summery and fallish at the same time, so you can wear shorts with a sweater or a t-shirt with boots and still feel pretty comfortable. I love the idea of a chambray layered under a cardigan, but since I just got on the chambray bandwagon this summer, I haven’t had the opportunity. Enter last Saturday: high of 72. Glorious. Perfect weather for an oxymoronic outfit.

P.S. On a side note, I noticed that I’ve had several people click on my Bloglovin’ button in the past couple days, but Bloglovin’ doesn’t seem to think I’ve added new followers. That shit cray. If you tried to follow me recently but haven’t seen me on your Bloglovin’ feed, let me give you another opportunity right now: click here and then click the blue “Follow” button. Yay.

Keepin’ It Real

If you’ve read my “about” page, you know that I am alllll about keepin’ it real for you here at Sarah’s Real Life. You know that every outfit I show you here is something I actually wore. But I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that on week days I normally take my photos in the evening (when the light is best) after I get home for the day. That means my clothes have been scrunched up after sitting in cars and at desks all day.

Usually I don’t look too bad, but you might notice in the photos above that I’m doing my best to block your view of my knees and my crotchal region. Well, these are new pants and it turns out the fabric gets pretty easily stretched out and wrinkled. If I give you the full frontal, it looks like this:

Kind of a bummer, but it’s not like I can’t still wear them. They’re pretty comfortable (especially since they stretched out), and the cropped length is perfect. The color comes across yellowish in these pictures, but they’re actually more lime green. They’re just so bright and happy!

And…back to awesome:

One Year Down

I was going to call this entry “Freaky Eyes” because this blue cardigan makes my eyes look extra blue (almost freakishly so), particularly in that third picture. But then I thought: if someone reads a title with the word “freaky” in it, why would they want to look at it? And then they would miss out on seeing this lovely little outfit I wore to work on Monday, and that would be so sad.

Instead, this post is titled “One Year Down” because yesterday my wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary. The hope is that there will be many more. If you’ve ever wondered who is patient enough to take these lovely photos of me everyday, it’s her (thanks, babe). Obviously, she’s a keeper. Below are a couple of pictures from our wedding if anyone is interested.

Apparently I’m very into blue and orange recently. Instead of putting the colors side-by-side like last time, I gave them a little distance. After all, since they’re so different, sometimes they argue.

If you ever feel like you’re overdoing it on the tank top & cardigan combo (like I do often), remember you can always wear a cardigan solo just like it’s a regular top.

These Kenneth Cole wedges are a recent find at TJ Maxx, although I couldn’t find them online.
